Living at Cressex Lodge: Expectations and Agreements

At Cressex Lodge, we want every young person to feel safe, supported, and able to enjoy and achieve during their time with us. Before moving in, every young person signs an individual agreement. This is to make sure you’re coming here because you want to—and that you’re committed to making the most of your stay.

Everyone who lives at Cressex Lodge agrees to follow a shared set of rules. These are in place to keep our home safe, respectful, and fair for everyone. Just like you, all young people agree to stick to these expectations.

We believe that everyone—regardless of race, religion, or gender—deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. At Cressex Lodge, we promote equality, tolerance, and kindness. We know that no problem is too big to solve when we work together. By supporting each other, we can create a happy, positive place to live.

What We Expect From Everyone

  1. Equality and Respect
Everyone has the same rights, freedoms, and value—whether male, female, or non-binary. Discrimination, disrespect, or abusive behavior of any kind is not accepted here.

2. Behavior
The following behaviors are not allowed under any circumstances

  • Fighting, violence, or aggression
  • Swearing at or insulting others (including staff)
  • Bullying of any kind
  • Physical, sexual, or verbal assault
  • Racial or religious abuse
  • Stealing (taking anything that doesn’t belong to you)
  • Using or sharing illegal drugs or alcohol
  • Smoking anywhere inside the house or on the premises
  • Encouraging or pressuring others to break rules

 3. Religious Observance
Everyone has the right to practice their religion freely. We will support you in observing your beliefs and attending any religious events or activities that are important to you.

4. Staff Areas

Staff offices and rooms are private. Please do not enter these areas. If you need something, knock and wait for a response.

5. Cleanliness and Care for the Home
Everyone is expected to keep their personal space and the shared areas (kitchen, lounge, corridors, etc.) clean and tidy. You’ll take part in a rota to help keep the house clean. This helps make sure the home is comfortable and safe for everyone.

6. Mealtimes
We eat meals together at set times:

  • Breakfast: 8:00 AM – 8:30 AM
  • Lunch: 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM
  • Dinner: 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM

You’ll be encouraged to help with meal prep, setting the table, and clearing up after meals.

7. Television
The lounge TV is for everyone to share. You can also choose to watch TV in your own room. During weekdays, the lounge TV is turned off during school hour
s.

8. Bedtime Routine
On weekdays, we ask that everyone is in their rooms by 10:00 PM, and settled down by 11:00 PM. Please be quiet and respectful of others who may want to sleep earlier.

9. Phone Use
A phone is available for you to use to contact your family, social worker, or other important people in your life whenever you need it.

10. Education
You’re expected to take part in the education or training program agreed at the start of your placement. We’re here to support you with this every step of the way
.

11. Consequences
Everyone makes mistakes—we understand that. But if you break the rules or your personal agreement, there will be consequences. These will be fair and discussed with you as part of your support plan. For example, if you miss education, you might miss out on a planned activity. If property is damaged, you may need to make it right through repair or payback

Remember: We’re here to support you, help you grow, and work with you to build a future you can feel proud of. These rules are part of making Cressex Lodge a safe, happy, and respectful home for everyone.
